The Americano cocktail was first created by Gaspare Campari in the 1860's and was originally named the Milano-Torino, after the cities that gave birth to the two main ingredients of the Americano cocktail, sweet Vermouth and Campari.
The cocktail was renamed the Americano in the early 1900 's after a surge in American tourists ordering and recommending the cocktail while on vacation in Italy, and it is by this name that we know this classic cocktail today.
The Americano cocktail is a true classic and provides very refreshing cocktail drink perfect for a hot summers evening. Not only is the Americano cocktail a great tasting cocktail, it is really easy to make as it contains just three ingredients and requires no specialist cocktail making equipment.
